What exactly is Frely?

A self-hosted web app that runs the business side of freelancing: proposals with AI, client correspondence analysis, tasks, time tracking, clients and projects with budgets, and analytics. Think “command center” rather than “todo list”.

How is the AI different from just using ChatGPT?

ChatGPT does not know your clients, your past proposals, or which of them won. Frely keeps that history on your server and uses it as context, so drafts come out in your style with your track record baked in. It also files the results: proposals scored, tasks created, hours logged.

Which AI providers are supported?

Anything OpenAI-compatible: OpenRouter, DeepSeek, Azure OpenAI, local models via Ollama or vLLM, and others. You paste one base URL and one key in Settings.

Is there a mobile app?

The interface is responsive and works in a phone browser, voice input included. Native apps are on the roadmap but not the current focus.

Self-hosting

What hardware do I need?

2 GB of RAM and a couple of gigabytes of disk cover a solo freelancer comfortably, including the local speech recognition model. Any $5-10 VPS works; a home server or NAS works too.

What happens to my data if I stop using Frely?

Nothing. It is your database on your disk. Export it as SQL, keep it, import it anywhere. Deleting Frely means deleting your own files, not filing a support ticket and waiting.

Who can see my data?

You. Frely has no backend service of its own. The only outbound traffic is the text you explicitly send to your chosen AI provider, over your own key. Check the provider’s policy for their side; ours is “we never see it”.

Beta and pricing

Why a waitlist?

The beta is intentionally small. Every new user gets a real setup conversation so the installer gets tested on real machines, not just ours. Invites go out in waves.

What will Frely cost?

The plan: core features free forever for self-hosters, with paid conveniences later (managed updates, hosted backups, priority support). Your AI usage always goes straight to your provider at their price. No per-seat fees, no paywalled core.

Can I contribute?

Yes. Beta members who report bugs and request features get the fastest response, and code contributions are welcome once the public repository opens.

Ready to try it?

Join the waitlist and get your invite when the next wave opens.
